Dundee Writes saw the launch of its fourth issue at this year’s Dundee Literary Festival – a wonderful event of readings, free wine, and hot-off-the-press copies of the magazine. Issue 4′ s contributors had the rare opportunity to take to the stage and read their work from the very same platform as internationally renowned authors and poets, and were fortunate enough to have among the audience an appreciative Alan Warner, James Meek, and Kirsty Gunn.

Copies of Dundee Writes 4 can be picked up from libraries throughout Dundee – get them while you still can!

Dundee Writes is received with thanks by literary institutions and initiatives throughout Scotland and makes its way into the mailboxes of literary agents throughout the country – the literary energy here in Dundee does not go unnoticed. Dundee Writes is an excellent opportunity to see your own writing published and reach a wide and influential readership – so get submitting!

A quick thanks to everyone involved in the production of Issue 4, to those who came along and supported us at the launch, and, most of all, to those who made donations to the Dundee Writes fund. Dundee Writes is a profitless enterprise and your support is not only greatly appreciated but quite crucial for the continuance of the magazine.

Roll on Issue 5!

We are delighted to announce that Dundee Writes 3 is in press and we plan to have a mini launch of this issue in collaboration with wonderful Hotchpotch in the basement of Braes Bar, Perth Road on Monday 26th March from 7.30pm onwards. Hotchpotch has kindly offered for us to take the floor from 7.45pm to 8.45pm, the first half of the evening. All welcome! A very friendly, relaxed atmosphere is assured!  We have had wonderful feedback on issues 1 and 2, and issue 3 marks the first year of our magazine.

If you can’t make it, we plan to have a larger Dundee Writes event at the Dundee Literary Festival in the autumn where we will invite speakers from all the issues – more news on that nearer the time.

We would like to thank all of you who have contributed pieces for Dundee Writes 3.  If you have not heard from us already, sorry you didn’t get in this time. We had a large number of submissions and only 12 pieces could go in. However, it is not too late to submit for Dundee Writes 4!

Dundee Writes is a voluntary team effort – thank you to all who have helped make this a wonderful little magazine of creative writing!

Hotchpotch Dundee is a night for people interested in literature or writing of any kind. Events are held in the basement of Braes bar, Perth Road, Dundee. For more information, email: hotchpotch.dundee@gmail.com or “Like” Hotchpotch Dundee on Facebook
